From the President’s Heart”

“Priorities”

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.”  (Revelation 2:4)  We just finished a fantastic Zone Rally tour with Terry and Diane Barker.  On the last night of the tour, the altar as well as the front row was lined with seekers.  People were on their knees seeking God’s direction for their lives.  When was the last time you were on your face seeking God’s will for your life?  Do you even care?

The book of Revelation was written to give us a glimpse of the days to come and remind us of who we are and to whom we belong.  The wake up call is going out but I’m afraid we’ve all become “comfortable” in our surroundings.  People don’t get excited about Jesus coming again.  They often say, “I hope He tarries a while longer so I can do . . . or see . . .” giving no thought to their dying soul.  It is not true that the one who dies with the most “toys” wins.  You can’t take anything with you, ever.

But in all this, we have forgotten our first love and the purpose for our being here.  We were created to worship God and win the lost.  Nothing else should be more important than this.  Nothing should consume our being as much as winning others for Jesus.  However, this all too often comes last in our lives.  Pastors are preaching comfort, forgetting about eternal life.  When was the last time you heard a “Holy Spirit filled message?”

People around the world are willing to die for Jesus in order that others might come to know Him.  But we can’t even invite them to church for fear of offending them.  The United States and Canada have been declared a mission field because the church is dying here.  Where are your priorities?  What matters to you more than anything else in the world?  Where do you want to spend eternity?  Do you care about the souls of others and where they will spend eternity?  Do you even care about life after this one?

God has great plans for the Michigan District.  But He needs your help to complete them.  He’s waiting for you to get in step with Him and march to his beat.  Let’s all get on board with God and turn Michigan around for Jesus.  Let’s do such a great work for the cause of the Kingdom that districts around us will wonder why they don’t have what we have; the power of the Holy Spirit.

A quote from Rev. Terry Barker:

“Pray like you’ve never prayed before.

Give like you’ve never given before.

Go to wherever God leads you.”

— Carol

Do you know what V.B.S. and Adult Projects have in common?  Right now, not much of anything?  The adults have barely raised $2000 for V.B.S. for Armenia, Russia, & Ukraine.  Will you help us tell children about Jesus and His love for them?  Each person and each church giving a little will go a long way.  If every church gave $100, we could raise over $7000.  See page 3 for more information.

Mrs. Carol (Rev. Keith C.)
