Indian Lake Nazarene Camp There’s something new under the sun! Indian Lake is very excited to host our Dinner/Drama series and Super Saturdays for 2006 (see back). On select Friday nights, our Dining Hall becomes the venue for talented choral groups, musicians, comedians, and dramatic artists. Come join us for a dinner buffet starting at 7 pm with program after for $12 per person. Children under 10 for $6 each. Please confirm your reservation with the Camp Office the Monday before the event date to help us with food planning. This summer, plan to meet Saturday nights at the C. Neil Strait Tabernacle for great music and comedy concerts. Starting June 17th through September 23rd, you can enjoy Christian entertainment and fellowship for a $3 nightly entrance fee and a love offering. Buffet dinner will be served from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm for $10 per adult ($5 under age 10) which includes meal, salad, dessert and beverages. Concert starts at 7 pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Camp Office or at the door. Discount Season Tickets are available for both programs. A Dinner/Drama package that includes Friday overnight lodging and Saturday morning buffet breakfast is offered for $35 per person (double occupancy). Of course, our regular summer schedule includes Family Festival (July 4th), children and youth camping, Michigan District conventions and assemblies, and Family Campmeeting. Looking forward to seeing you at many of these events. Thank you for your support of Indian Lake Nazarene Camp & Conference Center. Please contact our office at (269) 649-2281 for more information or to reserve/purchase tickets. Paul S. Casarez Volunteerism is an integral part of the ILNC culture. In God’s economy, sacrificial gifts of personal time and talent are deposited into programs like children and youth camps that change lives for eternity. Every talent, even brief durations of time, make a big difference. So how can you help? There are many ways—let me describe just a few. How about an ILNC Work & Witness Team? A few days, a whole week-organize a group of fellow Christians to come and help with light maintenance, painting, and clean up. Two teams are already organizing—a Michigan teen group in June, and an Ohio District church group in August. Very reasonable room and board can be provided, some projects could use your financial assistance with materials. Call our office and see how your group can participate. How about Camp Counselor or Assistant? Every camp needs volunteers like YOU! Our children and youth look for adults (young & mature) to invest in their lives. Do you need special qualifications? Yes. A caring heart, a love for God’s children, and willingness to share your life with another. What a thrill when one of your young friends decides to love and follow Christ! What better way to invest your time this summer?! Summer Camps can use other volunteers also. Some events during camp need extra hands & eyes) for a few hours. Clean up after meals at the Dining Hall, or after services in the Tabernacle would help tremendously. Aquatic observers are important helpers to our Lifeguard during swim times. Altar workers are a special need. Help during Camp Registration and Checkout is great appreciated. Reserve a week (or a few days) on your summer calendar, contact our office, and we will get you in touch with the appropriate Camp Director. There are also many opportunities for volunteers during Family Festival (July 4th), NMI Convention/District Assembly week, and Family Camp Meeting. An hour of your time, along with 20 or 30 others, could quickly tidy up the Tabernacle or Dining Hall. Or quickly empty trash cans one morning, helping us get ready for the day. Let’s not forget Work Days at ILNC. Our first is scheduled for March 11th. We plan to clear underbrush and a few trees along the waterfront areas. April 22nd, May 6th, May 13th, May 20th and June 3rd are projected dates for additional Work Days. We will provide more information in future announcements. Perhaps you (and maybe a few friends) could help during the week. Give us a call-let’s see what can be arranged. God has already spoken to several about helping at ILNC. How about you? |

Sunday School Ministries This is a great time of year! The time change happens this weekend, the days are getting warmer, and longer. It is a time when everything seems new and ALIVE again! Easter is a time of rebirth! We have so many people who attend just that day; we need to make sure we are prepared for them. This can be one of the best days of their lives as they experience a REBIRTH in their lives through the ministry of your church. Are you making intentional plans? Not just for that fantastic day, but what are you doing to follow up on those that come to your church? How are you going to get them into a Sunday school class, or small group? We need to be as intentional about our follow up and assimilation into the life of our church as we are in getting them into the Easter service. Have a great day in the Lord, and a great time following up on all your new births and prospects! His for a growing Sunday School! … John Sunday School vs Morning Worship What a nasty title! But you know in many churches around the USA.Canada it is almost like a conflict as to which is more important—SS or MW. In the month of January 2006, 55.4% of the Michigan District MW attendance attended SS. Across the USA/Canada that percentage was 68.%. Why such a disparity? Is it because we don’t emphasize the power of SS? Or could it be that we don’t realize we can count our small groups, and Bible studies that meet at other times than 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning? I am hoping the answer is the latter. There is no conflict—you know that. Each service serves a vital function in the church. SS needs worship to help bring in people and serve as an entry point. MW needs SS to help assimilate and ground people in the church. Let’s work to raise that percentage! Note: Easter Sunday Stats are due … Easter Sunday! (April 16) Don’t forget to report your monthly attendance figures by Tuesday noon after the end of the month. Report stats at: toll-free: 1-866-883-7712; e-mail: stats@minaz.org web: www.minazorg/ssm or direct page: www.minaz.org/ssm/stats/stats.asp The Men's ministry golf outing is May 6th at the Tomac golf course, Albion.. Tee time is 9 a.m cost is $40 including lunch! Contact Rev Dave Tran at (517)283-2355 or e-mail at dmtranus@yahoo.com for more info and to register. What a great day of quizzing at Lansing South Church on March 18! Check out the quiz kids webpage at www.minaz.org/ssm/quizkids for more information! What a great way for our kids to get into God’s word! Thanks Tom Hruska for leading this vital outreach ministry! |

Nazarene Missions International As I write these articles, my hope is that everyone will read them, because they come from my heart and the heart of God. I wonder if your heart “beats for missions” too. Or are you too busy to stop and think about others, their needs, their fears and frustrations or their spiritual well being? We are more than half way through our church year at this point with only a couple of months to raise our WEF. You might wonder why I’ve put such an emphasis on it. The days are short for us to tell others about Jesus and get the word out around the world. We must be doing ALL we can to spread the Word. In February 2005, we were at 46.06% for WEF. This year in February we are at 48.60% for WEF. I say “Praise the Lord!” We are ahead of last year and climbing. I’ve watched the report as various churches send in their love gifts for WEF. I’ve noticed that some have already surpassed what they did last year. Thank you for your extra efforts! I know we ALL can reach the goal together. But it’s going to take ALL of us to make the Michigan District Mission Priority One. Please remember that what you give, you give for God and the world goal of reaching the lost for Christ. That is the most important reason to give. —Carol How Can I Be Involved? • Ask your local NMI president who your LINKS missionaries are. • Write your LINKS missionaries and assure them of your prayers, asking for personal requests. • Send remembrances for special days like birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Remember, surface mail takes quite a while to arrive in some locations, so plan accordingly. • Children and youth find it especially meaningful to become personally acquainted with a missionary or a missionary's child. Encourage young people to send cards, small gifts, pictures, videos, and audiocassettes to your church's LINKS missionaries. • Check the Unofficial LINKS Lists. Have your LINKS missionaries posted specific needs for their field with which you can help? • If you wish to send a cash gift, make the check payable to "General Treasurer," note the missionary's name on the check, as well as what it's for (birthday, Christmas, etc.) and send it to Headquarters in Kansas City. For more information contact Eldon and Kay Kratz at 269-323-0742 or kratze@chartermi.net The first "Easter Offering" was given by "the church" to Roman guards as a bribe, requiring them to lie about the Resurrection events and to keep the truth suppressed. Now, the Church of the Nazarene receives an Easter Offering each year to send "Resurrection Hope" around the world. Please give so others may learn of Jesus' sacrifice. If I could see my world through the eyes of Christ, what would I feel compelled to do for others? Children’s Choir & Adult Orchestra This year we will be trying something new for NMI Convention. We would like to have a children’s choir, made up of kids from across the district, sing a few fun songs right before the Monday night service. We would also like to do the same kind of thing with a district orchestra. If you are interested in receiving more information about the children’s choir or orchestra, please contact Steven Merritt at (989) 723-2229, or ocnsteve@michonline.net. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT The Michigan District Work & Witness Trip to ANU originally scheduled for 2006 has been rescheduled for March 10-24, 2007. Please check with our website for more information in the future." |
