March 4-9, 2010 District Conversations

To all Pastors and Church Leaders,
 
A few years ago we were facing some critical times on the district.  In order to more effectivley communicate with our churches and leaders the district advisory board instituted “district conversations” to infom and to receive your valuable input.  Those first conversations were so helpful that they have become an annual event. 
 
This is to announce to you that the 2010 District Conversations will be held at the following dates and venues:
 
March 4 (7:00 pm) - Kalamazoo  1st (Thursday)
March 5 (7:00 pm) - Saginaw Valley (Friday)
March 8 (7:00 pm) - Lansing South (Monday)
March 9 (7:00 pm) - In lieu of the original venue location at GRIF on Tuesday, March 9, Rev. Kip Hasselbring will be hosting the March 9 District Conversation (7:00 pm) at their new High Pointe Community facility.  Their new church address is 2875 76th Street, Byron Center 49315. 

This year, we are focusing on two issues:  Olivet Nazarene University and the importance of sending our students there and the new global budget structure.  Tony Fightmaster will be sharing with us about Olivet and Mark Lail, director of Stewardship Services for the Church of the Nazarene, will be explaining the new global budget system and fielding any questions.  District Advisory Board members and district treasurer, Dr. Jim Schwiegert, will also be present.  While the new General Assembly mandated budget system is similar to that which we instituted two years ago, there are some significant changes.  As a connectional church with links around the world, it is imperative that our leaders be fully informed on changes to our missional responsibilities to the work of the kingdom through the Church of the Nazarene.  It impacts every local congregation, including yours.  It is, therefore, very important that every pastor, treasurer and as many board members as possible attend one of the conversations to be fully informed of these changes so that implementation can move ahead as simply as possible.  Please let you leaders know and urge them to attend.
 
These conversations are being held in the four corners of the district so there is a site relatively close to every church.  However, if you are hindered in attending the conversation closest to you, or if the date is inconvenient, please make plans to attend the conversation at one of the other venues.

March 14-15, 2010 Tri-District Holiness Summit

To All the Nazarene Ministers in Michigan:
 
I am really excited about our upcoming Holiness Summit to be held at the Saginaw Valley Church March 14 & 15th. The speakers and music will be second to none. Most of all we are praying for and expecting an unusual outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit. Would you join the District Superintendents of Michigan and plan on attending this very special series of meetings. Also, would you please promote the Holiness Summit in your bulletins, newsletters and electronic media and encourage your people, of all ages, to attend with you. Attached are copies of electronic slides you can use in your Power Point presentations.
