Downloadable Haiti Relief letter (pdf)

January 15, 2010

Carol,

It may be that several of our congregations would like to send financial or other compassionate assistance to our church in Haiti after the tragic earthquake.  At this point money and supplies are what we can do.  It may be that some churches will be taking a special offering for relief efforts and some might want to send supplies.  I think this would be best organized out of our NMI and its Compassionate Ministries; for that reason, I am copying in Jonathan Weathers on this correspondence.  Of course, churches will receive 10% credit for any donations given.

For those wishing to send items and supplies, I have included below shipping instructions and a needs list.

Please confirm that your office will handle this communication with our churches and donation and supply processing.  Thanks.

Let’s continue to be in prayer for the devastated Nazarene family in Haiti , as well as the entire country.

Yours and His,

John

PRAISE THE LORD!!  I can hear the DS shouting now.

“A New Beginning”

I was looking over the reports from December 30, 2008 and wondering where the Michigan District was going.  Do you know what I found?  I found a compassionate and loving District.  In spite of the economy and so many people struggling to survive, the Michigan District family has given almost $69,000 to Compassionate Ministries to help others around the world.  Fifty-five churches out of seventy-five have given to this tremendous ministry.  They have put others' needs ahead of their own and given in a loving and generous way.  Way to go Michigan District!

In addition, you have given over $20,000 for Alabaster to build new buildings around the world for others to worship in, live in, study in and get well in.  That is way ahead of last year at this time.  All because you care, others have a place to go they didn’t have before.

With modern technology on the rise, the airways are growing with radio and other means of broadcast.  So far this year the Michigan District has sent almost $8,600 to provide for the means of broadcast so others can hear about Jesus Christ and the lives He has changed through this ministry.  Where we can’t go, radio can go.  Where we can’t preach, video presentations are reaching the lost.  Thank you for this outstanding giving.

World Evangelism Fund is moving along very well.  We are ahead of last year by 1%, not much but a gain for which we are grateful.  Sixty-one churches of seventy-five have given for World Evangelism to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.  That’s a wonderful report for an economically depressed state.  Do others matter?  Absolutely, and it shows in your giving!

However, our job is far from over.  We are in the beginning of a new year with more adventures ahead of us.  Are you up to the challenges?  Are you ready for the outpouring of blessings from God that you cannot contain?  Will you join the Michigan District family in giving God glory and praise for all He has and will accomplished this year through the lives of His people?  We can do ANYTHING as long as we put GOD IN CHARGE!  Let’s go for the brass ring.  Let’s strive for 100% across the board.  We and God can do it.

Carol
